District 65 – 2018 Spring Conference
Communications and Leadership Award Recipient
By Leo O’Connor – Spring Conference Co-Chair
This year’s recipient of the Toastmasters International District 65 Communications and Leadership Award is Randi Quackenbush.
Randi Lynn Quackenbush is the Advocacy and Education Manager with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, based in Elmira, NY, where she has worked for the past four years.
Randi manages the Food Bank’s Advocacy and Education Department, which includes SNAP outreach, hunger and community education programs, as well as Child Hunger Task Force Collaborations.
In addition, Randi convenes the Food Bank’s Advocacy Committee which guides the organization’s public policy agenda and activities.
Randi is a graduate of Feeding America’s Advocacy Academy, in partnership with the Congressional Management Foundation, where she gained research-based advocacy skills and practice.
She founded the Food Bank Speakers Bureau in 2016, which is a public speaking and leadership development program for people with first-hand experience of food insecurity to enable them to share their stories and become their own advocates.
Randi is a firm believer that people most impacted by social issues are the greatest asset to solving these complex problems and that their voice should be at the center of the conversation.
She holds a Master’s Degree in International Development Studies and lives with her husband in Trumansburg, NY.
Be sure to join us on April 20th and 21st, 2018 for the Toastmasters International – District 65 Spring Conference where Randi will tell her story and receive the District’s 2018 Communications and Leadership Award.
This award is given every year to a non-toastmaster who exhibits positive leadership qualities and successfully uses public speaking skills in service to their community.
