Dear District 65 Toastmasters,

It’s August already and we are two months into the new year! Where does the time go? Well, for one thing, we have been busy with training our district leaders and club officers. But also we have been working diligently to form the teams that will help us take the momentum of the last few years and use it to build success this coming year. If you attended Club Officer Training over the summer, you learned about the “leisurely” bicycle ride I had recently taken–the first in over 30 years. After traveling in one direction for nearly an hour and a half with no issues, I learned–rather quickly–that the reason for such ease was because it was for the most part… downhill. That’s right, the entire trek back was mainly an incline!

It was rough-going for a little while, but I realized what I needed to do to get to the top of the next hill. Hill after hilI after hill, in fact. Guess what! I made it! That leisurely bicycle ride ended up lasting about 3 hours and measured 19.8 miles! This experience made me think about how hard we have worked these past few years and how this is a time–not to dwell on shortcomings–but to focus on what it is we need to do to reach our goals and achieve success this coming year and beyond. It is, in a word, exhilarating! I hope that you are all as excited as I am!

Please know that my goals for this year include improved communication–beginning with a revamped website and providing more tools to improve the Toastmasters experience for all–by way of a stronger focus on training and education. Watch for the addition of webinars and other events to add to your toolbox.

I appreciate your trust and I thank you for your patience. Be sure to read to the end of this update for some exciting news and opportunities. See you soon!

Warm regards,

Pam Gorman, DTM
